Digital Engagement Analyst
Steve Ellmore, born and raised in Southern California, began his career with the Department of Defense in January 1992 when he enlisted in the U.S. Airforce as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Technician.

In April 2000, he volunteered for a special duty assignment as a Non-Prior Service (NPS) recruiter in his home state of California. After winning the coveted Master Recruiter (Gold) Badge for his region, he quickly realized his potential in the world of communications and thus became a career recruiter working all facets of Air Force Recruiting Service (AFRS), including Strategic Communications and Marketing.

In August 2012 he retired from the Air Force and soon acquired both his Bachelors of Arts in Communication from University of Maryland University College (UMUC) and his Masters of Arts in Communication from Johns Hopkins University - Krieger School of Arts and Sciences - Advanced Academics Program.

While attending school he returned to the DoD as a Department of the Army civilian at Fort George G. Meade, where he worked for the Garrison Public Affairs Office as the installation’s New Media Manager. During his tenure he was responsible for managing the social media presence of Maryland’s single largest employer as well as serving as the post’s webmaster.

In December, 2016 he was hired by the Office of the Secretary Of Defense for Public Affairs to serve as the first ever Digital Engagement Analyst for the Secretary of Defense.
