Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
Spokesperson and Public Information Officer
Ginger Colbrun, the current Spokesperson and Public Information Officer for the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives (ATF) for Southern California and the agency’s former Chief of Public Affairs developed and executed the crisis communication strategy during all the mass shooting from the December 2012 Sandy Hook killing of 20 children, ages six and seven, and six adults, to the 2016 Pulse Night Club Shooting where 49 were killed and 50 were injured. She was on the ground at the Newton shooting and most recently the October 2017 shooting in Las Vegas where 58 were killed, an additional 500 were injured. Learn how to communicate your agency’s role in a multiple agency crisis, walk the line between providing the much-wanted information, and maintaining specifics for investigation integrity, all while not exploiting the high emotions attached to such crises.
